Just as James Taylor epitomized the definition and the original, late-'60s incarnation of the term singer/songwriter, Dan Fogelberg exemplified the late-'70s equivalent of that term at its most highly developed and successful, with a string of platinum-selling albums and singles into the early '80s and a long career since, interrupted only by a health crisis in more recent years.
Featured in this month’s Classic Hits are Dan Fogelberg favorites newly added to our Classic Hits Library and available for instant requests for our GotRadio members. Recommended tracks: “Longer,” “Souvenirs,” “Somebody’s Been Telling You Stories,” “Make Love Stay,” “Missing You.”

Musical Chameleon, David Bowie easily and expertly adapted himself to both fashion and music trends, eventually redefining glam rock with his ambiguously sexy Ziggy Stardust persona. Ziggy made Bowie an international star.
Even when he finally was “out of fashion” in the late 80’s and early 90’s, it was clear that David Bowie was one of the most influential musicians in classic rock history, with each of his phases influencing a number of musical subgenres including punk rock, new wave, goth rock, new romantics and electronica.

Loretta Lynn is one of the most enduring and endearing artists in country music, and at 74, she doesn’t have any plans to slow down. She keeps an extensive touring schedule, with upcoming appearances on the Grand Ole Opry and throughout the United States. Inducted into the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame in 2008, she said the award meant "more to me than any award I've ever gotten for singing." But she’s still writing songs and recording albums. In fact, Loretta Lynn is currently recording two upcoming releases. She’s re-recording a collection of her biggest hits, including “You Ain’t Woman Enough," "Fist City" and "You’re Lookin’ At Country", produced by Johnny and June Carter Cash’s son, John Carter Cash. On the second album, she’ll sing with her sisters Crystal Gayle and Peggy Sue. 2004’s “Van Lear Rose” was produced by Jack White, of the White Stripes, and introduced Loretta Lynn to a new generation of fans. Her first single, “I'm a Honky Tonk Girl," hit the country singles chart in 1960, and since then, she’s had an incredible fifty-two Top 10 hits, and sixteen #1s.

Blondie was one of the most commercially successful bands to emerge from the punk/new wave movement of the late '70s and early 80s. The group was formed in New York City in August 1974 by singer Deborah Harry and guitarist Chris Stein out of the remnants of Harry's previous group, the Stilettos. The lineup fluctuated over the next year. Drummer Clement Burke joined in May 1975. Bassist Gary Valentine joined in August. In October, keyboard player James Destri joined, to complete the initial permanent lineup.
In 2006, Blondie celebrated their 30th anniversary with induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and the release of Greatest Hits: Sound & Vision, a best-of collection that contained all their classic videos as well.

Only teenagers when they hit the soul charts in 1969 with their smash single, “So I Can Love You”, the Emotions, comprised of three sisters, went on to become one of the leading female R&B acts of the 70s.
Through Memphis based Volt Records, the group worked with producers Isaac Hayes and David porter, but when Stax Records folded in 1975, they hooked up with Maurice White Of Earth Wind & Fire. This association led to the #1 pop/R&B hit “Best of My Love” in 1977. Two years later, Maurice White and the Emotions collaborated on Boogie Wonderland, which became a top 5 R&B and Pop hit.
