Rockell was born Rachel Alexandra Mercaldo on March 4, 1977, on Long Island. The dance diva was discovered in a bar while singing along with a recording of "Killing Me Softly with His Song," she was brought to the attention of producer Ewart A. Wilson, Jr., who helmed her 1996 debut single, "I Fell in Love." After scoring a hit a year later with "In a Dream," Rockell issued her debut LP, What Are You Lookin' At?, in 1998. Two years later she returned with Instant Pleasure, which featured producers like Hex Hector and Tony Moran.

Dubbed the "Queen of Disco", Donna Summer was one of the very few disco performers to enjoy a measure of career longevity, and her consistent chart success was rivaled in the disco world only by the Bee Gees. Few vocalists could match the sultry, unfettered eroticism Summer brought to many of her best recordings, which seemed to embody the spirit of the disco era perfectly. The total package made Summer the ultimate disco diva, one of the few whose star power was even bigger than the music.

The French duo “Air” consisting of Nicolas Godin and Jean-Benoît Dunckel, gained inclusion into the late-'90s electronica market due mainly to the labels their recordings appeared on, not the actual music they produced. Their sound, a variant of the classic disco sound coaxed into a relaxing Prozac vision of the late '70s, looked back to a variety of phenomena from the period — synthesizer maestros Tomita, Jean-Michel Jarre, and Vangelis, new wave music of the nonspiky variety, and obscure Italian film soundtracks.
The pair remained busy making music in 2005 and 2006: they collaborated, along with Pulp's Jarvis Cocker and the Divine Comedy's Neil Hannon, on Charlotte Gainsbourg's album 5:55, and Dunckel released a solo album as Darkel. Cocker and Hannon also appeared on Air's fourth album, Pocket Symphony, which was released in early 2007.

Webbie, a Baton Rouge native, was only 8 when his mama died from cancer. Bouncing back and forth from family member to family member was hard, but Webbie identified with the thuggish music of rappers Master P, Eightball and UGK. He became serious about the rhymes he had been messin’ with and when his grades started slippin’ in school, it didn’t seem to matter much when Pimp C from UGK came calling.
His debut CD, Savage Life hit the streets in 2005. In 2008, we find Webbie with a top 5 single “Independent" (f. Lil Phat & Lil Boosie) off his release of Savage Life 2.
