Woody Herman was a leader of along line of big bands, always encouraging young talent and keeping his repertoire fresh and modern.
Woody was not only a spirited blues vocalist, but a talented swing clarinetist and good soprano saxophonist as well.
Woody Herman performed late into his old age years, celebrating his 50th anniversary as a band leader in 1986. Shortly after, his health began to fail and before his death in 1987, he passed his band leader baton over to Frank Tiberi.

In 1952, Vera Lynn became the first British artist to hit number one on the American charts when "Auf Wiederseh'n Sweetheart" spent nine weeks at the top spot. That same year, Lynn managed an astonishing hat trick back home with the advent of the first singles chart for England — unveiled in New Musical Express in November of that year — when her records occupied three of the top 12 positions. Her first (and only) British number one came two years later, with "My Son My Son," and she gradually moved from radio/variety work to television spots during the '50s in order to round out her schedule.

| The Big Score |
| Avatar | |

The fantastic score for director James Cameron's epic, 3D sci-fi adventure Avatar was composed by longtime collaborator James Horner (Titanic), who won an Oscar for his work on the director's 1997 blockbuster Titanic, however the overall feel of the score owes more to Ennio Morricone's iconic work on the Mission, utilizing an atmospheric blend of native drums and choirs with lush, traditional adventure orchestration.
